  • Whose scat was that?

    Question

This scat I found is about 6" long...I figured coon, but there seems to be a lot of hair in it. We live in an urban area and have never seen or heard a coyote here, but that doesn't mean they aren't around. We DO have a huge resident opossum in our yard from time to time. If someone could identify it for me, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

    Naturalist's Response

Based on the photograph and the description, I would say that this is without a doubt Coyote scat. Believe it or not, coyotes are found in all 88 counties in Ohio in rural, suburban and urban areas. Thanks for asking!
