This approximately 60-acre park is unique for Geauga County because its waters flow into the Mahoning River, which many people are surprised to learn is part of the Ohio River watershed. Two trails total .35 miles, featuring an elevated scenic overlook deck and boardwalk built by Geauga Park District’s in-house construction crew.
Travel north through the marsh atop a lengthy boardwalk, or head south to the stairs and a deck with an incredible view.
Marsh Overlook Trail – 0.10 – crushed limestone
Treefrog Trail – 0.25 – crushed limestone
Among birds you may find here are Great Blue Herons and a variety of resting migratory waterfowl.
This property is comprised of predominantly mixed emergent wetlands (marsh) providing excellent habitat for numerous reptiles, amphibians, small mammals and wetland birds. Troy Wetlands protects ideal nesting places for wetland birds such as Great Blue Herons, and offers important stop-over resting habitat and plentiful important food resources for migratory birds. Surrounding the beautiful open marshlands are scattered brushy transitional zones that grade into swamp forests, along with a small amount of upland forest. The property also has ponds, the remnants of an old fish farm, which will provide opportunities for anglers to try their luck.
Troy Wetlands is an exceptional place to connect with Nature but has no reservable facilities.
