This 139-acre park within the headwaters of the Grand River watershed, formerly “Camp Chickagami,” a year-round camping facility of the Western Reserve Council of the Boy Scouts of America, is primarily wooded and includes wetlands, streams and uplands. Four trails total 1.62 miles. Recreation areas include a campground, horseshoe pits and an activity field backstop, as well as tetherball during warm-weather months.

Chickagami Park has two shelters and 13 campsites, all reservable.

 

Pine Grove Shelter

Reserve This Facility

 

Pine Grove Shelter can host up to 150 people and offers 12 picnic tables, electrical outlets, a grill, and nearby vault-style restrooms.

Alcohol is only permitted in the shelter, not in the adjacent support facilities such as restrooms, activity areas, trails, parking lots or roads.

It is recommended that reservation holders bring their own water for drinking and sanitation, but potable water may be available next to the red shack near Overlook Shelter.

To protect the beauty of the parks, Geauga Park District encourages you to “Pack It In, Pack It Out.” Decorations are nice, but please no nails, glitter or confetti, and be sure to remove all traces of your decorations at the end of your visit.

Guests are responsible for their own shelter clean-up at the end of each reservation/event.

Overlook Shelter

Overlook Shelter can host up to 75 people and offers 10 picnic tables, electrical outlets, a grill, and nearby vault-style restrooms.

Alcohol is only permitted in the shelter, not in the adjacent support facilities such as restrooms, activity areas, trails, parking lots or roads.

It is recommended that reservation holders bring their own water for drinking and sanitation, but potable water may be available next to the red shack near Overlook Shelter.

Chickagami Park’s Camp Site A (Group) contains one 10′ x 12′ lean-to structure which typically accommodates up to 5 people; two 10′ x 10′ tent pads which typically accommodate up to 4 people each; and three 12′ x 12′ tent pads which typically accommodate up to 5 people each. Tents must be placed on the tent pads and not on the surrounding ground.

A picnic table, a fire ring, and a grill are also provided. Cooking must be done on the grill; the lean-to fireplace is to be used for warmth only.

Campers must bring their own firewood and supplies. Please do not bring firewood from outside Ohio. Campers are encouraged to bring/purchase firewood from local sources nearby this park.

Quiet Hours: Your group must be quiet enough between the hours of 11 PM and 6 AM to not disturb your closest neighbor.

Chickagami Park’s Camp Site M is a primitive area with no tent pads. Groups larger than 5 people must reserve an additional site.
