  • Bald Eagles in the parks?

    Question

Hi I was wondering if there are any Bald Eagle nest in our parks? My backyard borders Tupelo Pond, and last year I saw a young Bald Eagle come to a tree in my yard a few times. Thanks.

    Naturalist's Response

Actually, to our knowledge, we have two Bald Eagle nests in Geauga Park District – 0ne at Bass Lake in Chardon and one at Headwaters Park in Middlefield. Both nests are well established (although the one at Bass Lake has been there longer) and have produced youngsters in the past. Although the nests are difficult to observe through the trees, the adults can be seen often, hunting over the water and catching fish!
